Inscription: GOD HELP
The tile is based on a 14th century Pilgrim’s Badge found along the River Thames at Queenhithe in London. Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) is one of the titles given to Jesus in the New Testament. It refers to Jesus' role in Christian theology, as a sacrificial lamb atoning for the sins of man. The subject has been an important one in Christian art. Cast in lead, these holy emblems or badges were collected by pilgrims much as we would collect souvenirs of a place we have visited.
